Beginning of teaching a silkscreen class, and the beginning of a Blog

So this is my first blog entry. I hope this will become a regular habit of mine, because I have really bad memory, and documenting happenings in my life like this will help me remember them. This Blog will primarily consist of my professional happenings, so Teaching, art I create, things I design, shows I'm in, etc. will be the meat of this blog. I hope to also incorporate alot of images too, which will push me to document my life with a camera.

THE SILKSCREEN CLASS

Last Monday marked the first day of a class I developed and teach for a youth center with kids ranging from 7th-12th grade. It is a highly intensive course that covers design, learning photoshop and illustrator, branding, marketing, business planning, and screen-printing shirts. I've T.A.ed a lot before, and I've co-taught a few courses before, but this is my first class teaching totally independantly. I am very excited, and was a little nervous, but last monday was an amazing success. The students looked at examples of branding that I showed and it really got through to them. Later the group worked exceptionally well in a group discussion, coming up with and agreeing on a name. They created logo ideas and critiqued them at the end of class. Everything went pretty smoothly, and the students are excited, and I'm excited, and there make excellent progress, so I am a happy man.

Marwen Classes

3 weeks ago, I started the fall term again with Marwen as a T.A.. I am T.A.ing a ceramics class on weds, and a silent film making video class on saturdays. The video class has some really good students, and it looks like its going to be a breeze compared to last term. Ceramics is going well too.
